Hanging with the stars

What a day! We went to the Camden markets (wow), the marble arch, Madame Tussauds (I was very much looking forward to that!) and shopped along the way. We worked out we walked over 7km today so I didn't feel too guilty having a burger and chips for dinner! Anyway, here are some shots of us hanging out with the stars - from sharing goss with Audrey to getting punched by Ali to doing the Single Ladies dance with Beyonce (fun fact, today four years ago Andrew liked it so he put a ring on it!)

Ps. For those who said they couldn't comment on posts, I've changed the settings so you can.

Ali is still the greatest

Cheers from the UK!

After 36+ hours of travel and passport checks and customs, we arrived in London at 7am. By 9.30 we had made it to the hotel via the tube, but we couldn't check in for a few more hours, so we went for a walkabout.

We stopped at an little cafe for breakfast where I had my first English Breakfast tea in England, for breakfast. Well, I thought that was cool.

We caught up with our friend Darren for a few drinks and a late lunch/early dinner at a communal Asian restaurant  called Ping Pong. We sat at table with two ladies and their kids, one of the kids was called Ava, nothing like the Ava I know, she was quiet ;-) We went to bed at about 5.30 pm that day. It gets dark around 4pm so our bodies are thinking it s much later than it is.

We've visited a few Monopoly sites already including Regent St, Oxford St, Piccadilly, Paul Mall (btw, pronounced Pal Mal) just to name a few. We went to Trafalgar Square yesterday which was pretty cool. Was raining and freezing but that gave it some typical London ambience. We took a panoramic photo of the entre square but it doesn't fit well on the blog (because it's so wide) so we'll have to show you in person when we're back.

Anyway, today we are off to the British Museum and if the weather gets better we'll go to Buckingham and Big Ben (we've seen Big Ben but not up close).

Love to all

'Twas the night before...

So we are all packed and ready for our 3.30am wake up and 36 hours of travel (gah!).

Like every time I travel, I have this feeling like I've forgotten something important, and then I check and I've packed my Cloud Nine (curler) so it's ok ; )

So for a very basic version of our itinerary, this is what we're in for for the next eight weeks:
London - 8 days
Contiki (Europe) - 19 days
Malta - 14 days
New York (via Paris) - 8 days
Hawaii - 3 days
Sydney, Brisbane, Mackay.

Anyway, better get to bed.  Our next update will be from London, unless I'm bored at the Airports and then you'll all hear about it!

Much love,

A+J xo

Hey there!

So we've decided to start a blog to keep you all in the loop.

What an interesting name? You may ask.  Well for those of you who don't get it, I took it from The Traveling Wilburys, you know, the EnglishAmerican supergroup consisting of Bob DylanGeorge HarrisonJeff Lynne,Roy Orbison and Tom Petty.  The band recorded two albums in 1988 and 1990, though Orbison died before the second was recorded.  Thanks Wikipedia!

So here I am, two nights before the big trip - I started packing a few hours ago and have finished.  You will all be proud to know I managed to pack for eight whole weeks in under 20kgs (admittedly, I've put my toiletry bag in Andrew's suitcase), but still, a good effort on my part.

We're both pretty excited for the trip.  A lot of people are asking what I am most looking forward to.  For me it has to be West End and Broadway in London and New York respectively, and though I may regret saying this - escaping the heat for 2 months.  I think for Andrew, it's Malta.  He may not look it, but he is a big Malteser at heart.

We'll try and post when we can.  I figured this way would be easier for you guys to see what we're up to without having to post it all over Facebook.

In terms of contact details, you can reach us on email: ajschembri@bigpond.com (both of us) or ja.schembri@hotmail.com (my account) or Facebook.  We will try and Skype, but haven't set that up on the iPad yet.  For emergencies, we do have our mobiles on international roaming.

I know we'll be freezing, but the below photo shows our end goal - sipping cocktails on a tropical island (Hawaii), thawing out!

Laters!
